I love the name, #fauxfilter because, lets face it, filters are amazing. The thought of having a constant filter over my skin pulled me in like a gym junkie to new activewear. I’d constantly be photo ready, foundation would be perfect and I feel like it would make me a better person. So when the bottle arrived I ooohhed and ahhhed over the beautiful packaging and gave it a whirl.
The Low Down
This foundation is described as a velvety with an airbrushed finish. It comes in a range of shades in Neutral (labelled N), Golden (labelled G) and Beige (labelled B). With a huge range of colours you should be able to find your perfect match without a problem.
Unfortunately thats where my positives ended. I have a combination / dry skin type and I struggle to find foundations that stay shine free in my oily areas without over drying the rest of my face. The foundation is a full coverage which is great for a glam night but it really shows every line and bump in my face which kind of defeats the purpose of a full coverage.
I tried it with a mix of different primers, moisturisers and application tools. I found a beauty oil to be the best way to moisturise and a silicon based primer to be nicest option for a primer. The damp beauty blender to help spread it further also helped get it smoother and less cakey. This reminded me of Estee Lauder Doublewear Foundation in a bad way. Just a bit too matte, too dry and sat on top of the skin rather than melting in to create the Second Skin finish it boasts.
Maybe in Summer when my skin is more hydrated it will be better? I really wanted to love this foundation but it came no where near my expectations. I love the rest of the Huda Beauty range but this foundation just wasn’t right for me. Hopefully I can find a way to make it work and I can be one of the many #fauxfilter lovers out there.

Not yet. At this moment in time I wouldn’t re purchase, I’m hoping in time I learn to master this foundation and love it too.
