I did the unthinkable. I finished all my foundations, every last drop and so I celebrated by buying two new ones! One was the Faux Filter Foundation from Huda Beauty which I am yet to open. The other was the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation.
I have been dying to try the Fenty Beauty range since it came out and I had heard so many great things about the different products, from the highlighters to lip gloss and primers and everything in between. So when I realised I was all out of foundation I figured I owed it to myself to try the foundations I always wanted. And here we are.
The Low Down:
The Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Foundation is a Soft Matte, Medium to Full Coverage, Longwearing Liquid Foundation. The ‘Soft Matte’ means it lightly blurs pores while maintaining a matte finish (minus the chalky over powdered texture). Available in 40 shades of actual real skin tones so you can find something to match your skin without a hitch. While it says its suits every skin type, I haven’t tried it on anyone else yet so this review is based on my experience and my skin which is Combination/oily.
My two cents:
I’ve been searching for a new foundation to wear to weddings so that when I am there doing makeup for hours (often without a chance to check my self before the photographer arrives) and I don’t want to be the one in the background of the photos who looks like a shiny, pale, over tired crazy person by the time my makeup has run everywhere. So with that in mind I opted for the matte and long wearing foundation to hopefully give me shine free, all day coverage without it smudging all over my face.
So far It has ticked every box.
I used two pumps on a synthetic buffing brush over my daily serum which gave me a full coverage but it was so smooth, no cake, no streaks, and it was weightless. I have combination-oily skin so finding something that sits nicely all day can be really hard. I haven’t been this happy with a full coverage foundation since I used MAC Prolongwear concealer all over my face back when I worked at David Jones almost 7 years ago. I have been searching ever since I went cruelty free for a foundation like this.
The bottle is 32ml which is larger than the average foundation from Estee Lauder, MAC, Becca, Maybelline, Revlon or Napoleon. And the packaging is really nice, its sleek and feels like a luxury item even though its in the medium price range for foundations.
Purchased from Sephora for $50 and it arrived the very next day! Love that!
I am usually always one of the lightest colours if I’m not the very lightest already but I was happily surprised to find that I was the colour ‘Neutral-Light’ and not the usual ‘Lighter than white’ description I often see. And there were colours lighter than my skin tone which is really rare so it’s a big tick to the colour range of Fenty Beauty in my book.
Would I recommend this product?
Ah, yes. 110% YES!
Have you tried this foundation? What did you think?
